Jag Bhawan, MD
received his M.D. degree from Maulana Azad Medical College in New Delhi, India in 1968. He received a doctorate degree in Pathology in 1972 from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, India. He trained in Pathology and Dermatopathology at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester, MA from 1973 to 1975, prior to joining the University of Massachusetts Medical School, as the head of Dermatopathology and Assistant Professor of Pathology. He trained in Dermatology at the combined Boston University/Tufts University Dermatology residency program from 1980 to 1983. Dr. Bhawan then returned to the University of Massachusetts as Professor of Dermatology and Pathology. In 1986 he joined Boston University School of Medicine as Professor of Dermatology and Pathology and Head of the Dermatopathology section and became the director of the Skin Pathology Laboratory. He is also the director of the Dermatopathology training program.
Dr. Bhawan is board-certified in Pathology, Dermatology and Dermatopathology. He has over 140 publications, has written several book chapters and recently a "Dermatoathology interactive atlas" on CD-ROM. Dr. Bhawan serves on the editorial board of the American Journal of Dermatopathology and is currently President of the American Society of Dermatopathology.
His research interests include photo-aging and disorders of pigmentation.
